Kelsey’s Story

Kelsey Janae Weber aspires to write children’s picture books that matter, often finding her creative flow in the quiet hours when the rest of the world sleeps.  By day, she’s a mother navigating the beautiful chaos of family life with God’s help. By night, she transforms into an aspiring storyteller, developing narratives she hopes will speak to young hearts while honoring their intelligence. This contemplative night owl discovers that her most promising creative moments arrive when the house finally falls silent and her thoughts can roam freely beneath the stars.

The journey toward authorship wasn’t one Kelsey planned meticulously—it emerged organically from bedtime stories with her own children. After countless nights of reading books that either missed opportunities to inspire wonder about God’s creation or subtly undermined values she held dear, Kelsey felt a gentle but persistent nudge.   “If you can’t find the books you wish existed,” God seemed to whisper, “perhaps you should try to write them.” What began as scribbled ideas in her journal gradually evolved into a calling that she hopes will extend beyond her own family’s bookshelf.

At the heart of Kelsey’s writing lies a deep conviction: children deserve stories that entertain while gently guiding them toward understanding the language of God’s love. In her narratives, she strives to avoid heavy-handed moralizing, instead aiming to invite young readers into adventures where biblical principles can unfold naturally through character choices and consequences. With each manuscript, she works to balance the delicate art of storytelling with the profound responsibility of nurturing developing moral compasses, hoping to create books that parents can share confidently and children will request repeatedly.

Kelsey’s writing desk (aka phone) often bears evidence of interrupted creativity—with more lists of ideas than completed manuscripts.  Her greatest challenge is also her greatest inspiration: balancing the desire to write with the priority of being present for her family. Rather than viewing motherhood as an obstacle to her authorship dreams, she embraces it as the authentic wellspring from which her stories flow. This tension—between creating for children everywhere and being fully present for her own—informs her work with genuine empathy.

In a children’s literary landscape increasingly filled with complex and post-modern themes that leave young minds confused and misguided, Kelsey aims to create literary sanctuaries parents can trust. She envisions picture books that provide wholesome spaces for children to explore important concepts without encountering content that leaves them questioning reality or the truths their parents have been trying to convey. She believes children deserve stories that don’t give them nightmares, but still acknowledge challenges while reassuring them that goodness prevails.  This philosophy shapes every manuscript she writes, as she works toward creating books that parents might add to bedtime rotations.

The revelation that writing books represents only a fraction of an author’s journey initially threatened to derail Kelsey’s dreams. The demands of platform-building, audience connection, and navigating publishing pathways often consume more energy than the actual creative process—a reality she finds both disheartening and challenging. Yet her conviction about the importance of these stories propels her forward. She tries with God’s help to approach each marketing task and industry learning curve as part of a greater purpose: hoping someday these narratives might reach the children who need them.
